Bewild Coffee

Bewild is the food produce arm of Beforest Lifestyle Solutions, which facilitates and manages sustainable food forests and housing collectives that are food water and power secure.

Our forest friendly Bewild Coffee is entirely sourced from Beforest’s Poomaale (literally meaning– Garland of Flowers) Estate, located at Kakkabe (Coorg). Located in the midst of the Western Ghats at an elevation of 1040 meters, the estate receives an average rainfall of 6000 mm a year.

All our produce at this independent estate grows naturally, without the use of any external nutrition, artificial pest control and with limited external intervention. The immediate impact of this is that the surrounding forests have also benefitted from this approach. With its abundant wildlife that includes big cats, small clawed otters, elephants and more, it is a perfect example of a forest friendly estate.

All our coffee is processed using a natural or dry process which ensures that we save close to 130 litres of water per bag of coffee.

At Bewild, we use sustainable farming as a tool to support and enhance our forest ecosystems. Guided by the fundamental principles of permaculture, our produce, which we refer to as ‘forest friendly’, is entirely sourced from our collectives or from surrounding farms which follow a similar philosophy of ‘Earth Care, People Care, Fair Share’; while supporting co-existence with abundant wildlife.

This simple philosophy has been our North Star from day one. Equal pay for men and women, full medical insurance, paid leaves for farm staff and education for their children are some of the simple steps we have taken in this direction.
